| Rayon originally was produced to imitate the far more expensive silk. Synthesized from cellulose, it is a man-made fiber derived from a natural source, usually wood waste. Today it is used extensively for soft, drapable fabric with characteristics similar to cotton. It softens linen and other stiffer fibers, and adds lustre to many blends. As a pure fabric, 100% rayon offers a delightful array of possibilities, not the least of which is our line of batik-dyed fabric from The Batik Butik. |
